Dr. Heiman, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, received his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati. He completed a family practice residency at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois. After practicing in Chicago for two years, he joined Urban Family Practice Associates in October 1989.

Dr. Heiman and his wife Abby have three sons, Isaac, Eli and Aaron. He enjoys running, water sports, skiing and snowboarding.
